Plan around your treatment and responseAn introduction to chemical peels
A chemical peel applies a solution to create controlled exfoliation. As skin recovers, its surface can look smoother and more even. We offer BioRePeel and VI Peel; the right formulation depends on your skin, goals, medical history and recovery preferences.
Exfoliation can help rough-feeling skin look smoother and brighter. Discuss sensitivity and your usual skin-care routine before choosing a peel.
Some peels address fine lines or certain types of acne. A consultation helps distinguish concerns a peel may improve from those needing another approach.
Selected peels may improve the appearance of sun-related spots and discoloration. First understand what is causing the pigment changes.
Depth matters. A light peel and a deeper peel have different recovery needs and risks. More intensive treatment is not automatically a better fit. Explore suitability and safety.
Your appointment, considered
Know your options.
Make room for recovery.
Review your goals, health history, products, and previous treatments. Ask about preparation, expected improvement, and the full cost before deciding.
After cleansing, your provider applies the selected solution and monitors your skin. Sensations and the steps used to finish treatment depend on the formulation.
Get written instructions for cleansing, moisturizing, sun protection, and follow-up. Ask when to resume makeup, exercise, and active skin-care products.
Recovery is part of the treatment
Your peel’s depth and your skin’s response shape recovery. Discuss your calendar before booking.
Redness, tightness, or stinging may occur. Lighter peels generally need less recovery than more intensive treatments.
Flaking or peeling may follow. Avoid picking and scrubbing, use the recommended skin care, and follow your provider’s sun-protection instructions.
Assess changes once skin has healed. A series may be considered; results are not permanent, and further treatment should follow reassessment.

An informed decision
Share any history of cold sores, unusual scarring, pigment changes, recent procedures, and medicines—including isotretinoin. Mention pregnancy and current skin irritation. Your provider may advise a different treatment or timing.
Peels can cause prolonged redness, swelling, infection, scarring, and lighter or darker patches of skin. Some pigment changes can persist. Ask about the risks of the specific peel proposed for you.
Contact your provider if burning, itching, or swelling occurs after treatment. Follow their recovery instructions rather than adding exfoliating products on your own.
Read Mayo Clinic’s chemical peel information and discuss individual risks during consultation.
They are distinct professional peel systems with different formulations, protocols and aftercare. Your provider can compare the exact options available for your skin, goals and preferred recovery window.
It varies with peel depth and individual healing. Ask for a realistic recovery window for your exact treatment, especially before travel or an important event.
They can, with careful selection. Choose a provider experienced with your skin tone and discuss pigment-change risks, preparation, and aftercare.
A peel does not tighten sagging skin or erase deep wrinkles and scars. Discuss what it can realistically address and whether another treatment better fits your concern.
Request a quote for the selected peel, any proposed series, and aftercare or follow-up costs. Call 817-379-9397 with questions before booking.
Peels use chemical exfoliation. Explore microneedling, HALO laser resurfacing, or BBL light treatment with your provider to compare goals, recovery, and suitability.
